Our studio space is confirmed at long last! Just waiting for the lease to be completed, and the painting and partitions to be done.
Meanwhile at Painter’s Project on Monday afternoons, Matthew has given us two chapters from the book ‘Trust the process’, one about Mistakes and Distortions – ‘errors are harbingers of original ideas because they introduce new directions for expression’, and the other, The Many Ways of Creating – ‘once we realize that artists are themselves expressions of every conceivable way of living, we can begin to appreciate variations of creative types’. The writing is to the point and encouraging. I want to read more now.

North York Moors 2009 acrylic/oil on canvas 900x1200mm

'Mangawhai' 2008 acrylic/oil on canvas 900x1200mm
The Motions Arts Festival was on this last weekend, although I never got to see it (I had a date planting nearly 500 trees instead), but it sounded great – a mixture of film, music and paintings. I exhibited both ‘Mangawhai’ and ‘North York Moors’.
Another canvas about to be started, and another Moors painting. I am doing more charcoal and pastel painting/drawings as preliminary paintings for the larger oils.
