Paula McNeill, Tairua artist

Colour and movement are important components in Paula’s work, offering dazzling colour contrasts. The subject and composition in her paintings vary. Paula is the main drive behind the Little Gallery of Fine Arts in Tairua, and until recently ran workshops on the Coromandel Peninsula. She exhibits widely and most recently at NorthArt in November 2009. I’ve attended three of her workshops with our Hikuai Art Group, and all have been good learning and great fun. ‘a must to visit tucked behind Manaia Gallery and featuring over 40 outstanding artists.’ with painting, sculpture, jewellery, weaving and prints. I dropped in when I was down in Tairua for Christmas and it looks great! Two of my works were sitting on the easel and they looked good, very pleased with them – there was no ‘oh no’ feeeling! Into the New Year

A great start to the New Year and into the studio every day since I’ve been back from a short Christmas break. My main priority is getting everything sorted for the exhibition in February with Amy MacKinnon. But the longer hours mean I can also get more sorted at the studio – papers, books, space.
