All things small and beautiful…

Two exhibitions in the last week I’ve been to and the paintings have been very small, delicate even. The first is Sarah Hillary’s ‘Floating’ at Anna Miles Gallery in High Street. It’s on until 22 December so catch it if you can. Sarah has painted on 99 shells given to her as gifts by friends and relations. They are beautiful – all the shells are combined into one large set, but the whole is made up of smaller sets. The sets of shells are matched in size and shape and the painted surface to make smaller sets within the whole. … Continue reading All things small and beautiful…

http://www.annamilesgallery.com and Darren Glass exhibition opening Wedensday 24th August. Tomorrow I’m off to two Tates if I can – Tate Britain for the Watercolour exhibition, and Tate Modern for the Miro exhibition. Kate Small at Anna Miles Gallery

KATE SMALL -IN THE CLUB -25 AUGUST – 18 SEPTEMBER 2010 Went to the opening with artist friend Sue – great work of Kate’s. People waiting in not so comfortable places. Panicked a little and had a tizzy fit almost at the last minute and then it fell into place with some rearrangement of paragraphs. Good to hand it in! Back … Continue reading Kate Small at Anna Miles Gallery

KATE SMALL, SARAH HILLARY, DARREN GLASS 12 – 29 MAY 2010

It’s the last day of the exhibition at Anna Miles Gallery in High St and managed to get there finally, ironic as only two blocks away!! It was excellent – the work by all three artists. Sarah Hillary’s exquisite small gouache and watercolour on wood panels.  Katie Small’s works on paper and board of waiting rooms and swimming pool changing rooms. And the frisbee camera photograghs  of Darren Glass. The assistant showed me Darren’s book on the cameras he has made, tiny to large – so interesting. His cameras are works of art in themselves, and he treats them as … Continue reading KATE SMALL, SARAH HILLARY, DARREN GLASS 12 – 29 MAY 2010
